The 2020 Challenge

by Jonathan Paston

This month’s challenge is an unusual one. If I said it was to make $20,000 in 20 days I guess you would think that I was going to go all out on some super-affiliate system. You know the sort of thing. You sign up for a so-called ‘course’ on how to earn a fortune on the ‘net and what you receive is a system for selling the ‘course’ to other people and earn an affiliate commission on each sale.

This sort of incestuous sales system is not my cup of tea. It’s about as much fun as MLM - I just can’t put my heart into it!

So when I received a message from a fellow UK marketer that a mate of his had launched ‘The 2020 Challenge’ with a promise that anyone could earn $20,000 in just 20 days I almost ignored it. That was until I saw who it was from…

Michael Green has an enviable reputation of delivering good products - one of his recent launches was Traffic Czar - so I knew that ‘The 2020 Challenge’ would be worth looking into.

And as soon as I read the sales letter I could see that this was different. Because the emphasis is on selling your own products instead of someone else’s. You don’t have to worry about creating products, either, as the program delivers some itself and, if those don’t suit you, shows you how to find suitable PLR products to rebrand.

Now I’m a product oriented person. I can become far more enthusiastic about selling my own products rather than someone else’s. So ‘The 2020 Challenge’ looked as though it would suit me down to the ground.

So here it is, my new challenge, set for me by Michael Green (or my money back!). I’ve signed up and am going to give you the low down on my daily progress. So here goes…

Day One

This looks to me to be a step-by-step course. I like that. It is always disappointing to be fed a huge ebook full of useful information but giving you no idea of what to do with it.

Step One is to read the manual. You are told this first step can be spread over three days if you wish to read it ‘part time’.

3 days? Well this is no ordinary manual. This one is 250 pages of illustrated information!

On the sales page you are told that you need just three things to run this program, reiterated at the beginning of the manual, namely to have a web host, own a domain name and be able to create a web page and upload it to your domain.

Now, if you think this rules you out, don’t despair. If you sign up at the hosting service I use, VodaHost, you’ll automatically receive a free domain name and will be given a web page creation program as well as a complete tutorial on video of how to create your first page. (Take a tour of VodaHost here).

So, with that out of the way, here’s a little more about the manual. There’s a nice, gentle, introduction that explains what you are going to have to do. Obviously I’m not going to be able to give everything away about this system but I can tell you it revolves around finding, rebranding or creating a product, generating a web page sales letter, finding JV partners and affiliates to help sell your product and putting into place a payment processing and product delivery system.

Such is the basis of most internet business. The key to this course is going to be how much help the course gives you to set all this up, together with how well it helps you succeed.

Part of the Day One process is to sign up for the support Forum. I’m sure this is going to be a useful resource for anyone who gets stuck. One of the great things about a forum is that you realise you are not alone in what you are attempting to achieve. And it really helps to ask others about problems that might crop up, or even to gain heart when you feel like giving up.

Motivation is everything when you are struggling to succeed.

Over the course of the next 20 days you’ll find out how well I succeeded! See you tomorrow.
